Cam is a recent “graduate” of the First Reflections Program, culminating in his one-year photo session. I really enjoyed working with Cam and his family! We had so much fun carrying the Disney theme throughout all of his first year photo sessions. Check out my favorite images from his newborn and first-year shoots.
Cam’s sessions got me thinking…can you “do” Disney World with a baby? Then I realized that my parents took my sister and me to Disney when I was three and she was nine months old. We had a great time! If you are thinking about a Disney adventure with your baby, here are few tips.
- Nap time is precious – You may find it more convenient to bring your own stroller that allows for baby to lay flat for naps. This provides for longer, more refreshing naps than an umbrella stroller or a rental stroller. A rested baby is a happy baby!
- No strollers permitted in ride lines – That’s right, Disney has stroller parking lots! You may want to bring a poncho or trash bag to cover your stroller while you are in ride lines. Afternoon showers are common in Florida and you don’t want to put baby back into a wet stroller. Since you will have to hold baby while in ride lines, you may want to plan on eating or shopping when baby is actually napping in the stroller.
- Speaking of rides – Babies can actually go on most rides. There are only height restrictions on a few rides in the park. I loved the teacup ride and my sister loved the Dumbo ride! When we went back to Disney as teenagers, we rode these again, but both really loved Space Mountain the second time around!
- Taking care of baby’s needs – The Disney parks have a Baby Care Center for nursing and changing baby. It is equipped with rockers, swings, and high chairs. Just in case you forget or run out of diapers, wipes, formula, or baby food, they are available for purchase at the Center. If you can’t make it to the Care Center, there are many hidden nooks throughout the park that work well for nursing baby in a quiet, private environment.
- Don’t forget the “ears” – You just can’t go to Disney World and not get Mickey ears. Having baby’s name embroidered on the ears makes them extra special. My sister and I still both have our personalized Mickey ears!
Did you take your baby on a Disney World trip? What other tips do you have? Please, share!
