Happy Fall! I just love the colors, smells, and sights of the fall season! It is also an indication that Halloween will be here soon.
I remember my parents reading to me and my sisters, and we really loved seasonal stories. They added to the excitement of the season or holiday.
I share with you a few of my Halloween favorites. Hope you and your child have a fun time reading these books together.
- Mouse’s First Halloween by Lauren Thompson – This board book follows Mouse through a fall night, encountering scarecrows, kittens, leaves, and much more. Illustrations are beautiful!
- Big Pumpkin by Erica Silverman – How will the biggest pumpkin ever grown be removed from the vine and made into a pie? See how the witch, ghost, vampire, mummy, and bat approach this dilemma.
- Pop-Up Peekaboo! Pumpkin by DK – This fun book provides a pop-up surprise under every flap! Your child joins the Little Black Cat and her friends on a Halloween adventure.
- The Spooky Smells of Halloween by Mary Man-Kong – This scented storybook introduces your child to the smells of Halloween – apples, cookies, candy, and more.
- Pick a Pumpkin by Patricia Toht – This picture book explores the Halloween tradition of picking a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch and transforming it into a jack-o-lantern. What a fun family activity!
