Welcome back to Talking Tails!
We are super excited that next week is Thanksgiving – great time with family, extra attention, and all sorts of delicious food! We openly admit that we are not above begging for Thanksgiving dinner scraps. If we wait patiently during the meal, which means no begging and no staring at someone who is eating, we usually score some delightful food!
Several of the traditional Thanksgiving foods are so appealing, but others can be dangerous to us. No one wants to end up at the emergency vet later in the day, right?
So, turkey (no skin or bones), mashed potatoes (no butter or gravy), cranberry sauce (just a small amount because of its sugar content), and green beans (not if they are part of a green bean casserole) are A-OK!
On the other hand, grapes and raisins, onions and garlic, chocolate (including baking chocolate), and artificial sweeteners can cause serious health issues. A big no-no is alcohol – even in small amounts it can be toxic. Fruit cakes, rum cakes, and other baked goods made with alcohol should also be avoided.
Have a great Thanksgiving and safely enjoy the table scraps!
Talk to you soon!
Buster and Joey
