Welcome back to Talking Tails!
Have you been using GoodRx to make informed decisions about where your humans purchase your medications? Well, we have just discovered this website! It is really easy to use. Let us tell you about it!
Your human can research the cost of medications on the GoodRx website or use the phone app. Simply search for the prescription – name of med, dosage, number of pills – and get a list of near-by pharmacies and prices. Coupons may also be available that will further save you some money.
As Buster has gotten older, he has developed some normal aging issues. He takes “human” medicine for a minor heart issue and for stiff joints. By using the GoodRx website, our mom has saved substantially. We even used a coupon and one prescription only cost two dollars. Can you believe it!
Currently, GoodRx does not offer discounts for “pet-specific” medications, such as heartworm drugs. You can use the website, however, to compare prices on pet-specific drugs from online pet med pharmacies, such as 1800petmeds and KV supply.
As many of you do, we both suffer from seasonal allergies. We use “human” allergy meds and save money by buying generic Zyrtec and Benadryl. Sam’s Club has the best prices!
One more tip for you…Our mom uses a weekly pill dispenser for each of us. Every Sunday evening, she fills each daily spot with our meds for the week. This really helps our mom and dad to keep track of dispensing our meds. Sometimes dad leaves for work very early in the morning and other days mom works very long hours. Having our pills in the daily dispenser helps them both to know if the other one has given us our meds or not. This helps to assure that we are not over- or under-medicated.
Yes, we are cute, as are all of you, but we can be expensive! So, why not save on your meds!
Talk to you soon!
Buster and Joey
