Welcome back to Talking Tails!
My Mom and Grandma both like to keep a neat and clean house. So, I must “toe the mark” around the house!
One thing that I have learned is that for the house to be clean, I have to be clean! So, I get a number of baths and paw wipes!! Mom says that whatever goes down the drain, does not go into the house. I don’t shed, but my cousin, Jade, does, so a good vacuum cleaner is essential. One that has a strong suction and a quality filter is better than a vacuum that simply glides over the surface. Pulling up hair from carpets and upholstery not only cleans the house, but minimizes room odors.
In addition to cleaning me, Mom cleans my “things” – toys, blankets, and beds (yes, I have more than one!). My beds have a machine washable cover and my blankets go right into the washing machine. I know fancy, fluffy beds are tempting, but one that is water resistant and easy to wipe down is much more practical. My toys are also on my mom’s agenda! Most of them are machine washed, while others are hand-washed in the sink. They all get lined up on the porch to dry, as the sun helps to eliminate
more odors.
As we all know, accidents do happen. Odors are minimized if your human acts fast to clean it. Enzyme-based cleaners are great at minimizing smells. Baking soda neutralizes odors and can be spread over the carpet before vacuuming. A little bit of vinegar in the washing machine also helps to remove smells. Mom and Grandma are on this!
Stay clean!
Talk to you soon!
Joey
