Welcome back to Talking Tails!
Happy New Year! Hope you had a great holiday! Mine was pawsitively wonderful – gifts, treats, naps, and love and attention from extended family. What more could I ask for?
Have you noticed that January is often spent cleaning and organizing? I don’t know if it has to do with new year resolutions or just a long month!
It might be a good idea for your humans to add a toy bin refresh to their cleaning activities. Mine is desperately in need of help! A few ideas to get you started…
Start by going through every toy. That’s right, have your human actually touch each toy. Keep, donate, and toss piles should be created. I have to admit that I love removing squeakers from toys, so I have a collection that can really be tossed. I also have some toys that I have destroyed beyond recognition. They have to go! Some of my toys were well-intentioned gifts, but I just don’t really find them appealing or fun. That’s not to say that another dog wouldn’t enjoy them, so those go on the donate pile. It may also be time to wash the toys you decide to keep. I am sure we all have some that are a bit (or more) dirty!
Now that we have whittled down our pile of salvageable toys, lets’s look at our toy bin. Looking pretty sad, right? It may be time for a new one. Just remind your human that a low and wide bin allows you easy access to your toys. If you feel the need for more than one bin, I’m looking at those with a furry brother or sister, you may want to sort your toys. One bin for bones, one for plush toys, one for balls – whatever works for you!
Here’s to a toy-filled new year!
Talk to you soon!
Joey
