Santa was at the studio this past weekend! Three newborns came to meet Santa and have their picture taken. The images were so precious!
As the holidays approach, here are a few suggestions for surviving and enjoying them with a newborn.
- Just say no – Keeping up with every holiday party and family/friend request is quite stressful when you add a newborn to the mix. Remember that the holidays are to be fun, so say no to anything that adds stress.
- Shop strategically – Online shopping is key for new moms. You can shop at any time, even in bed! If you do decide to brick and mortar shop, do so when baby has just been fed and is ready for a nap.
- Ask for help – You do not need to do it all. Ask for help from family and friends for a variety of things – grocery shopping, wrapping gifts, even cooking some of the holiday dinner.
- Reconsider travel – Your newborn may sleep his/her way through an airline flight or a long car ride. If you have doubts, however, share them with your family/friends and perhaps other holiday arrangements can be made.
- Take a break (you and baby) – Babies can be easily overstimulated with all the attention they receive during the holidays. Even new mommies can become tired with all the demands on their time. Give baby and yourself a break. Go to a quiet room to feed baby or even go home early.
