I had the pleasure of sharing Jack’s first birthday! We had an amazing photo shoot!
I am always surprised at how much babies grow in their first year. Wrangling toddlers, as cute as they are, can put you at risk for lower back pain. Here are a few tips to save your back from undue pain.
When lifting your child off the floor or out of the crib, don’t bend over! Bend your knees, squat down, and straighten your legs as you lift. For those short, like me, a little stool may be helpful when lifting your child out of the crib. Removing the tray before putting your child into a high chair will reduce the pressure on your lower back. Buckling your child into a car seat is easiest on your back if you sit next to the car seat, rotate your body toward the car seat, and then put your child into the seat. Holding your child and reaching in from the street puts undo pressure on your lower back. Stand tall when pushing a stroller, no slouching! And don’t lean over when putting your child in or taking out of the stroller. Always bend your knees!
What other back-saving tips do you have? Please, share!
