I am having so much fun watching the summer Olympics. Hope you are too! In my youth, I was a Junior Olympian in rhythmic gymnastics, so I truly appreciate the intense time and training of all the Tokyo Olympic athletes!
The Olympics provide moms and dads with a great opportunity to get your little ones excited about sports…maybe even interested in trying out a new one. It is also a great lesson for your child in friendly competition and showing respect to fellow athletes. This is on full display at the Olympics!
In the Olympic spirit, I am sharing downloadable activities that you can do with your child. As a bonus, there is an educational component to each of these!
- An Olympic maze lets your child get the torch runner to the podium for the games to begin. https://www.freeprintable.com/free-printable-mazes/olympic-games-maze
- When I was a little girl, my sisters and I held a neighborhood Olympics. We had competitions in our back yard! Here are some printable medals that you can use for whatever version of the Olympics you create for your child. https://www.instantdisplay.co.uk/olympicmedalscolour.pdf
- I love watching the gymnastics, so just had to include a coloring page featuring a gymnast on the balance beam. https://www.education.com/worksheet/article/color-the-poised-gymnast/
- A word search is a great summer activity for an older child. http://www.printactivities.com/Word_Search_Puzzles/Olympic-Word-Search.shtml#.YQCHM45KiUk
- The Olympics would not be complete without the Olympic Rings dot-to-dot puzzle. http://www.printactivities.com/ConnectTheDots/Olympic-Dot2Dot.shtml#.YQCHjI5KiUk
How have you been celebrating the Olympics with your child? Please, share.
