Welcome back to Talking Tails!
We are so excited for our cousin, Jade, who will be moving from an apartment to a house later this month. Being able to run in her new, fenced backyard will be so much fun for Jade!!
We have never had the pleasure of moving houses, only studios! If you are like us, you may have an instinctive fear of a new environment. Here are a few tips that will help in the transition to your new home.
If you are moving out of the area, be sure to visit your vet before leaving. Get your health records, fill prescription medications, and ask about a vet recommendation for your new location.
Have your human pack a “first few days” kit with dog food, bowls, toys, medications, treats, and bed/blankets. This assures that all your important stuff is available and not packed away in boxes.
Create “your space” in your new home to provide a sense of security. Putting your food and water bowls in the same area as at your previous residence, like near the back door, will make it feel like home in no time.
Be sure your tags or microchip information is updated with your new address and phone number.
This is for your human…Be patient with your furry friend during the move. Dogs are space sensitive, so it may take us a few weeks to adjust to our new surroundings. Your love and understanding will be a big help to us.
Talk to you soon!
Buster and Joey
